Inge Lise Rasmussen was born in Denmark on 18 December 1947, but she has been living in Siena for many years. She is a multifaceted person and artist. After working for the European Parliament as a simultaneous interpreter, she taught German language and literature and Scandinavian languages and literature at the Universities of Pisa, Viterbo and Siena. She translated literary texts for the Danish radio and for various companies. She published books about Johannes Jørgensen, Friederike Brun, Karen Blixen, H.C. Andersen and other Danish authors, and wrote many articles about Søren Kierkegaard and many other writers, trying to mediate among different cultures. At the same time she devoted herself to painting, drawing inspiration mainly from the forms of nature, specializing herself in the art of watercolour on paper, but also produced mixed technique and acrylic works. She illustrated books and created various book covers. Since 1993 she has been showing her works on a regular basis in many personal and collective exhibitions in museums, galleries and various public spaces across Europe (Italy, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Slovenia) and Argentina. She loves to travel and discover new geographical and cultural perspectives and these experiences often make an impact upon her artistic expression.
In 1994, on the occasion of the 24th International Art Exhibition “Il Castello”, organized by the towns of Abbadia San Salvatore and Montepulciano along with the Tuscany Region, she was awarded the Prize of Honour of the President of the Republic, Mr Eugenio Scalfaro.
In 1995 she painted the banner for the Palio of Casole d’Elsa in the Province of Siena.
